The future of the British Korean Veterans Association – BKVA
A decision was taken at the 2013 AGM to close the Association late in 2014, after the erection and dedication of the new Korean War Memorial on the south bank of the gardens of the Ministry of Defence building in Whitehall facing on to the River Thames. This would be done after the “Laying Up” of our National Standards, hopefully in York Minster.
The decision to disband was made on the basis: “We go out with our heads held high, rather than just fade away”. The decision to close the Association has been met with a substantial level of disapproval by members. However communications would continue between Branches who still wish to remain in contact. I personally think the disbandment of the National Association to be premature, but our Devon & Cornwall Branch anticipate keeping in touch with others by email and websites.
