The Hook
On the extreme left of the Commonwealth Area was a series of features, collectively known as The Hook which suffered a number of serious attacks. Because of our commanding height it was possible to see the action from Little Gibraltar. The infantry was regularly rotated in and out of their front line positions and in late January 1953 all British infantry units went into reserve for a period of training, and no doubt respite from daily action.
I have since learnt that both the pilot and observer parachuted safely to ground, unfortunately behind the Chinese lines and were taken prisoner.
