Later during 1996 I read in a local newspaper an invitation for those who had served in Korea to join the Devon & Cornwall Branch of the British Korean Veterans Association, who held monthly meetings at Plymouth. From then I took a more active interest, to the extent that my wife, Adina, accompanied me on BKVA trips to meet up with fellow veterans of Turkey, Thailand and Korea, the latter where we were feted as royalty by a very appreciative and generous government and people.
As our re-visit to Korea in 1999 coincided with a State Visit by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, all visiting Commonwealth Korean Veterans were invited to a reception to be held at the British Ambassador’s residence in Seoul.
